Fritz Schafer is an honors graduate of the Washtenaw Community College photography program along with other academic credentials. He attended workshops at The Santa Fe Workshops in New Mexico. He was a judge for the Ford Seahorses International Film Contest for several years. Mr. Schafer initiated and set up the Volunteer Photography Program for Hospice of Michigan and was the 2005 Volunteer of the Year at Hospice of Michigan for his photographic work.

Fritz Schafer has given solo exhibitions at The University of Michigan Gifts of Art program, the Ann Arbor Public Library, Daves Photo Emporium, the Ann Arbor Art Association Artists on Location program, the Turner Senior Resource Center and other locations.

Mr. Schafer's images have appeared in the following publications: National Geographic Kids Magazine; Best of Photography Annuals; Petersons Photographic Magazine, including a grand prize winner; Cover photo for a novel by Dr. John Rubadeau; and, Cover illustration for the magazine Current.

His photographic interests include underwater, nature, portrait, montage and travel photography. Locals he has visited include: Kenya, Ecuador, Brazil, Panama, Fiji Islands, Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong, Thailand, the island of Maderia, Peru, Costa Rica, Morocco and Belize.
